Experimental Study on Titanium Alloy Cutting Property and Wear Mechanism with Circular-arc Milling Cutters

Abstract Titanium alloy has been applied in the field of aerospace manufacturing for its high specific strength and hardness. Nonetheless, these properties also cause general problems machining, such as processing inefficiency, serious wear, poor workpiece face quality, etc. Aiming at above problems, this paper carried out a comparative experimental study on titanium milling based CAMC BEMC. The variation law cutting force wear morphology two tools were obtained, mechanism effect machining quality analyzed. conclusion is that contrast with BEMC, under action thickness thinning mechanism, was less, fluctuation more stable. flank uniform near edge, rate slower. In early period, mainly adhesion. Gradually, oxidative occurred milling. Furthermore, surface residual height lower. There no obvious peak trough accompanied by fewer defects.
